Implant Course

Come join ADI for a 3 day LIVE patient implant placement course. If you are ready to increase the scope of your practice with single-site implant placement, you are in for a treat. This course will give you the skillsets to feel comfortable with case selection, CBCT interpretation, implant mechanics, flap design/closure, and most importantly, implant placement. Didactic lecture and benchtop typodont use will be limited to 1 single day, leaving 2 FULL days for hands-on LIVE patient implant placement with instructor oversight. Allow us to guide your hands on your first implant cases, so you can feel confident to serve your patients’ implant needs, on Monday morning!

With just one day of lectures and typodont practice, you’ll spend two full days on hands-on patient implant placement under expert guidance. Dr. Ryan Conkle

Dr. Ryan Conkle has been placing and restoring dental implants for 20 years. After graduating from USC School of Dentistry, he completed an AEGD residency, and served 3 years as a dentist in the US Navy. He then completed a 1 year dental implant fellowship at the California Implant Institute, as well as a surgical externship on the All-on-Four full arch immediate load technique With CII. He successfully completed the dental implant credentialing process with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and is a past fellow of the AAID. He also successfully challenged and passed the written ABOI implant board exam. He is trained on all aspects of dental implant therapy including placement, restoration, bone grafting, sinus lifting, full arch and immediate load techniques, and PRF therapy. Dr. Conkle loves to help dentists become comfortable and proficient with implant dentistry and the amazing difference it can make in the patient and dentist’s lives.

Elie M. Ferneini

Dr. Ferneini is a practicing Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon in Cheshire Connecticut.  He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University (B.S.), Quinnipiac University (M.H.S., M.B.A.), University of Connecticut (D.M.D., M.D.). Dr. Ferneini completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency and is currently an associate clinical professor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. He is also an associate clinical professor of Surgery at the Frank H Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.
He has a long history of conducting research resulting in over 135 scientific publications and book chapters. He has lectured nationally and internationally. He is on the editorial board of multiple scientific journals and a member of numerous professional organizations. He is also the Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Ferneini is a co-editor of nine textbooks on all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as facial cosmetic surgery. He lives in Hamden Connecticut with his wife and three children.

Andrew Schneider

Dr. Andrew Schneider was born in New York, NY and is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo. He obtained his Dental degree at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He proceeded with one-year General Practice Residency at University of Washington and continued his training with a second-year residency at UW Hospital and its affiliated Harbor View Hospital. During this time, he focused his training in oral maxillofacial trauma and head and neck cancer surgery. He also completed training in the UW Oral Medicine Department focusing on Temporomandibular Joint Disorder management and spent time managing patients at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Course Outline:

Our LIVE Patient Implant Placement Course includes, but is not limited to, the following course outline. 

  • Brief overview of implant history with an in-depth analysis of effective implant mechanics.

  • Indications and contraindications for successful implant placement.

  • Overview of relevant orofacial anatomy and bone types/physiology.

  • Review of common implant designs by the most popular implant manufacturers.

  • Use of “Cone Beam” technology,  for safe and accurate implant treatment planning, along with a review of CBCT interpretation.

  • Flap design versus gingival punch techniques.

  • Indications for immediate versus delayed placement.

  • Osteotomy creation in various bone types and the importance of torque values and subcrestal implant placement.

  • To Bury, or Not to Bury, that is the question!

  • Use of healing abutments and ovate pontics for gingival contouring.

  • Review of second stage uncovery techniques – laser versus scalpel.

  • Implant osseointegration verification using Ostell electromagnetic technology.

  • Management of post-operative pain, crestal bone loss, and early/late implant failures.

  • Hands-on, typodont implant placement to gain familiarity of the surgical kit and drill set sequences.

  • Single day of didactic lecture and benchtop implant placement

  • 2 FULL days of LIVE Patient, hands-on placement by the attendee with instructor oversight and one-on- one patient specific CBCT interpretation prior to clinic.

Doctors are encouraged to bring their own patient in order to best treat patient going forward with restoration treatment.
